WHAT ARE WALL DECALS/STICKERS?
Wall decals and letters are available in different colors and sizes. You can also purchase them in sets or as individual stickers.
The benefits of using wall art decals and letters are that they are easy to apply, removable and affordable.
Wall decals and letters can be used to personalize a space for a child's room, bring life to a dull space in your home or garden or to spruce up an office space. The decals can be placed on furniture or any smooth surface as well. They can be used as décor or as a way to create something new from scratch.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:
PREPARE THE WALL
Make sure the wall is smooth and clean. Use a damp sponge or a small amount of soap to remove the oil
ALWAYS make sure the walls DRY, free of dust, lint or debris.
DO NOT apply to rough or textured walls.
DO NOT apply to freshly painted walls
CUT APART AND DIVIDE THE DECALS
Cut the decals apart from the rolls and follow the contour lines
Divide them into piles that are similar to each other in design and size
TAPE THE DECALS ON THE WALL
If this is your first time using decals, you can use a measuring tape to space each pattern out.
Use a painter's tape or any tape that won't damage the wall to tape the pattern on it.
By using this method, you can see how the pattern will look before actually sticking it to the wall and you can make changes until it looks perfect.
IT IS BEST TO STICK THE WALL DECAL ONCE (properly) and not have to do it over and over again.
CUT OFF THE DECAL'S BACKING
Cut off approximately 1/3 of the decal's backing on the OPPOSITE side of the tape to make sure it is positioned properly
SMOOTH THE DECAL INTO PLACE
Use your hand to smooth the decal so that the portion with the backing cut off is stuck to the wall
REMOVE THE REST OF THE BACKING
Pull the tape off the wall. GENTLY fold the decal down and remove the remaining backing.
FIRMLY ADHERE THE DECAL TO THE WALL
Press the decal onto the wall, starting with the part that's already adhered to the wall.
It is best to use a SQUEEGEE, PLASTIC PUTTY KNIFE or CREDIT CARD to smooth the surface and remove any air bubbles that may be present. Leaving air bubbles can cause an uneven finish and improper adherence to a surface.
Work from the middle and move outwards. Always push air bubbles towards the edge to remove them
REMOVE THE PAPER ON THE FRONT
Slowly peel away the paper from the front of the decal
NOTE:
YOU USUALLY CAN'T REUSE DECALS ONCE YOU REMOVE IT. If you're lucky, you can probably use it one more time so It's a good idea to get extras just in case.
LETTER DECALS:
The same techniques apply in installing letter decals/stickers however you might want to use a ruler, bubble level and pencil to make sure the lettering is straight.
